About University of Namur
The University of Namur (Université de Namur — UNamur), founded in 1831 by the Society of Jesus as the Facultés universitaires Notre-Dame de la Paix (FUNDP), is a premier public-funded research university nestled in the heart of Namur, the capital of Wallonia, Belgium. Educating approximately 7,000 students across 6 faculties and multiple flagship interdisciplinary research institutes, UNamur is celebrated across Europe for its human-scale academic excellence, personalized student mentorship, and world-class scientific discoveries. UNamur made history by establishing Belgium’s earliest dedicated Faculty of Computer Science in 1970 and continues to lead global research in software engineering, cybersecurity, data science, and ethical artificial intelligence through the Namur Digital Institute (NADI) and CRIDS (Centre de Recherche Information, Droit et Société). Operating across a fully integrated, pedestrian-friendly city campus centered around Rue de Bruxelles, Rempart de la Vierge, the monumental BUMP library, the 17th-century Arsenal student complex, and the specialized clinical hospital campus at Mont-Godinne (CHU UCLouvain Namur), UNamur delivers high-impact education in Computer Science, Business Engineering, Economics, Biomedical Sciences, Chemistry, and IT Law.
