Visit Official WebsiteThe University of Lapland (Lapin yliopisto), established in 1979 in Rovaniemi on the Arctic Circle, is the northernmost university in the European Union and Finland's premier research institution for Arctic and northern expertise. The university brings together four interdisciplinary faculties: the Faculty of Art and Design (one of only two art universities in Finland), the Faculty of Education, the Faculty of Law (one of Finland's three law faculties), and the Faculty of Social Sciences, alongside the internationally renowned Arctic Centre housed in the architectural landmark Arktikum. With a strong commitment to sustainable northern development, indigenous Sámi rights, environmental law, cold-climate engineering design, and winter tourism science, the University of Lapland serves as the permanent host of the University of the Arctic (UArctic) International Secretariat.
