About Oregon State University
Visit Official WebsiteOregon State University (OSU) is a premier public land-grant, sea-grant, space-grant, and sun-grant research university with its historic central campus in Corvallis, Oregon. Founded in 1868 as Corvallis Academy, OSU has grown into the largest university in Oregon, holding the prestigious Carnegie R1 (Very High Research Activity) classification. OSU is one of only three universities in the entire United States to hold all four federal grant designations (land, sea, space, and sun), generating more than $480 million in annual research expenditures—more than all other public universities in Oregon combined. Situated on a picturesque 570-acre campus in the Willamette Valley, OSU is internationally celebrated for the College of Forestry (consistently ranked among the top two forestry programs in the world), the College of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences (CEOAS, world leader in marine science and operator of NSF research vessels), the College of Engineering (pioneering robotics, nuclear energy, computer science, and civil infrastructure), and the College of Agricultural Sciences (renowned for fermentation science, viticulture, and hop breeding). In addition to its Corvallis campus, OSU encompasses the branch campus OSU-Cascades in Bend, the world-famous Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport on the Pacific coast, the OSU Portland Center, and the nationally top-ranked OSU Ecampus online division.
