In January 2022, the institution was reborn as an ambitious Établissement Public Expérimental (EPE), uniting the comprehensive university faculties with premier elite graduate schools: École Centrale de Nantes (Grande École d'ingénieurs), École Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Nantes (ensan), École des Beaux-Arts de Nantes Saint-Nazaire, the Jules Verne Technological Research Institute (IRT), and the University Hospital Centre (CHU de Nantes).
