Established in 1977 (originally founded as Université du Maine and officially renamed Le Mans Université in 2017), Le Mans Université is a prestigious, multidisciplinary French public research university located in the Pays de la Loire region, operating across two dynamic campuses in Le Mans and Laval. Educating more than 12,000 students—including over 1,800 international students from 90+ nationalities—and supported by over 1,000 faculty and administrative staff, the university is internationally renowned as the world capital of Acoustics research and engineering through its CNRS-affiliated Laboratoire d'Acoustique de l'Université du Mans (LAUM), one of the largest acoustic laboratories globally.
