About Kyung Hee University
Visit Official WebsiteKyung Hee University (경희대학교 / KHU) is a prestigious private comprehensive research university located across two primary metropolitan campuses in Seoul and Yongin (Gyeonggi-do), with a specialized peace research institute in Gwangneung (Namyangju). Established in 1949 and expanded under the leadership of Dr. Young Seek Choue in 1951, the university adopted the name Kyung Hee in 1960 in homage to the historic Gyeonghuigung palace. Dedicated to the founding ideal of "Creating a Civilized World," KHU is world-renowned for proposing the 1981 UN International Day of Peace and for its grand neoclassical stone Gothic architecture—most notably the 4,500-seat Grand Peace Palace (평화의 전당), the largest university hall in East Asia. Academically, Kyung Hee holds an undisputed global reputation in Traditional Korean Medicine (College of Korean Medicine), international hospitality and tourism management (College of Hotel & Tourism Management, consistently ranked #1 in Korea and top-tier globally), East-West biomedical clinical sciences, collegiate Taekwondo and sports medicine, postmodern music, and global governance via its 100% English-taught College of International Studies (CIS).
